Jayanta Das, a popular actor in the cultural world of Assam, is no more. The veteran actor passed away at the age of 54. The actor died at 8.41 pm on Saturday. It may be recalled that he was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Christian basti in the city on Saturday, December 9, and was undergoing treatment for a week. Jayanta Das was undergoing treatment for liver ailments.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the late actor have been taken home from Apple Hospital. The death of actor Jayanta Das is an irreparable loss to the cultural world. The people of the state are saddened by the death of the popular actor. The medical expenses of Jayanta Das were borne by the state government. According to reports, the last rites of Jayanta Das will be performed today.
